Why Working in Technology Feels Like it Must Have Felt to Be Alive in Italy During the Renaissance
A fool with a tool is still a fool. Artists are genius with nothing.
A fool with a tool is still a fool. Artists are genius with nothing.
Since leaving the full-time work world, as I help startups, inventors, and investors create tech companies, that refrain is stuck in my mind.
That is,
Generative AI is powerful but we can't grok its power. 💪
All predictions about AI are bogus. Some will come true.🔮
What we create with AI is TBE: To Be Envisioned. ☀️
When you invest, bet on the jockey (the creator), not the horse (GPT). 🏇
AI is like a paintbrush, guitar, or camera — a vehicle for artistic expression. 👨🎨
Most "thought leaders" spew hooey, hype, and hallucination. 💦
Change, for some, is thrilling. For others, it's scary. Both are right. ☯️
A fool with a GPT tool is still a fool -- sometimes, that fool is me.👇
When my kids were young, they’d ask me, “Dad, what do you do?” I’d explain what being CEO is like. I’d explain what software is. And analytics.
Those explanations never seemed to stick.
Then, one day, I tried,
“Working in technology today feels like it must have felt to be alive in Italy during the Renaissance. Every day, I see something new. I’m amazed at what people create. I learn. It’s a great time to be alive.”
That’s better.
